What's on the Table?
Following weeks of intensive negotiations between the FBU and the National Employers at the National Joint Council (NJC), the following pay offer has been put to members:
The offer was formally set out in a letter from Sarah Ward, Employers' Secretary at the Local Government Association, to FBU General Secretary Steve Wright on 3 June 2026.
Executive Council Recommends Acceptance
The FBU Executive Council met on 3 June 2026 to consider the offer and has voted, on balance, to recommend acceptance.
In his letter to all members, General Secretary Steve Wright outlined the key factors the Executive Council weighed up:
The cost of living, with inflation recorded at 2.8% in April
The financial pressures currently faced by fire and rescue services
The need to maintain a collective approach to the long-term case for Pay Reform
"This decision rests with the membership. Your participation is crucial in determining our final position." โ Steve Wright, General Secretary
